About me

Valerie Betts is proudly from West Palm Beach, Florida and a graduate from Dreyfoos High School of the Arts where she majored in Communications. She went on to graduate from the Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts with her BFA in Film Production and a specialization in Cinematography.

In order to get a jump start on her career, in high school she created a company to provide videography services to families and businesses across Palm Beach County. Her work as a videographer gained her recognition including being the first place winner of the Palm Beach Pathfinders 2019 Communications Scholarship, a finalist for the Burt Reynolds scholarship, president of the Film Association at her high school, and Multimedia Editor of her school’s news magazine The Muse.

At FSU Film School she was fortunate enough to be the Director of Photography of six FSU short films and work on countless others in a wide range of positions including but not limited to: Director, Writer, Producer, Editor, 1st Assistant Camera, 2nd Assistant Camera, Camera Operator, and more.

Valerie now lives in Los Angeles and is a freelance filmmaker pursuing her dream of becoming a Director of Photography. She primarily works on set as an assistant camera, grip, or production assistant, but she continues to produce high quality videos for local businesses as well.
